College is not for everyone, but that does not mean you should not be a type of higher education or a training exercise. When you think about your future, what do you envision? Are you doing something you love, or you come to work for a salary?

If you are one of many trying to make a decision about where to spend your money and your future investments, to read. This article gives a comparison of 4-year colleges and technical schools. What is right for you?

How to choose between the 4-year colleges and technical schools:
Ask yourself these questions and consider the advantages and disadvantages of each type of institution.

What are your goals? Do you have a career goal? What are your learning goals? Would you like to learn as much as possible, you can have a variety of topics? Would you like to learn as much as possible you have a subject (an expert)?

What are your strengths? Weaknesses? Would you benefit from a shorter program more focused?

Lifestyle. How does the school fit into your life? Would you enjoy non-traditional programming such as online, evening or distance? 4-year colleges and technical schools offer both as options, but it varies depending on the school to check all the schools you are interested in participating.

What do you need? Realistically, do this kind of education or training, you should pursue your dream? Research your desired field – to know what the requirements are and how they compare with the programs you are considering. The U.S. Department of Education website offers resources for career and training opportunities for research.

Be an informed consumer. Check the equipment is new and updated? How to compare it with the equipment to be used on the job? Believe me, it can be annoying, but it is very important. After graduation, I realized I needed more time for the computer programs of research, the employer expects me to know the techniques of writing jobs. I’d better informed, I might have an additional course dealing specifically with these programs.

Consider the following points: the size of the campus, current students and alumni, faculty and staff;
Find out if the school is accredited and licensed, that make extraordinary claims? Your transfer credits?

4-year colleges
Some people want to learn for the sake of learning, while some are more focused and motor and schools to use as a springboard to create progress. If you are interested in scholarly activities over a traditional 4-year college may be your best option.

Advantages: a liberal arts education is applied in many areas, exploring different themes, prestige, student life ”

Disadvantages: expensive, time consuming, may produce in the area no longer wishes to pursue high standards and admission requirements, may be more sluggish employment upon graduation, may need additional training

Technical Schools
College was for everyone, technical schools do not exist. Some people feel a stigma attached to technical schools. In a society where attending college has become the standard, we lose sight of the value of vocational training. People feel abnormal and may be angry if they do not want to study, but feel obliged to do anyway.

Advantages: Shorter, targeted programs, standards for easy access, flexible schedules, certifications are not necessarily offered at colleges in 4 years, hands on training

Disadvantages: can be considered less prestigious, can be expensive, there may be less space for the exploration of other courses, accreditation, for-profit
